“Tap numbers that are nothing short of spectacular… I loved his show.”  —New York Post, Liz Smith

“Ninety minutes you fervently wish would never end… As big as anything on Broadway.”  —New York Magazine, John Simon

“The evening was a tour de force.”  —Washington Times

Presented by Auburn Public Theater, Barbara Walsh, the Cayuga Community College Foundation, Stardust Foundation of Central New York, M&T Bank and the Cayuga Community College Student Activities Board

Forget gravity, and those other laws of physics. For two nights in Auburn, Tommy Tune will tap, and the Manhattan Rhythm Kings will rule.

His six-foot-seven-inch frame looks like it’s designed more for basketball than Broadway. But the Texas-born phenom danced his way to fame – and nine Tony Awards – on the Great White Way, adding his unique magic to America’s love affair with the musical.

In five decades as a dancer, actor, singer, choreographer and director, Tune has starred on stage, film, record albums, even the EFX mega-spectacular that headlined at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. In 2003, President George W. Bush awarded Tune the National Medal of Arts, the highest honor conferred on an individual artist on behalf of the American people.

Distilling the highlights of his world-class career into a memorable evening on stage, Tune has created Steps in Time: A Broadway Biography in Song and Dance. Since opening in 2008, the show has won critical acclaim across the United States.

On May 11 and 12, Central New Yorkers will have a special opportunity to see Steps in Time at the Irene A. Bisgrove Theatre at Cayuga Community College. The show will honor the late dancer and choreographer Thommie Walsh, an Auburn native who was Tune's longtime friend and collaborator.

Proceeds of the event will help endow a new Cayuga Community College scholarship in memory of Thommie Walsh. Both performances will be introduced by Walsh's cousin, John Walsh, a fellow Auburnian and the creator and host of the Fox Television Network series America's Most Wanted.
